The Power Of Why

In 2018, I stood in a new house in a new city, unpacking boxes that held everything we owned — and realized that the landscapes I'd been photographing for years weren't just subjects. They were the places I'd had to leave behind. That recognition became the foundation of my practice.

About The Work

My work as a mixed media and digital artist is rooted in the intersection of nature, memory, and human experience. Through landscapes, botanicals, wildlife, and portraiture, I create pieces that don't simply depict a subject — they carry a story.

My process begins in observation. I photograph the people, places, and creatures that move me, then digitally compose these images into a guiding vision before bringing each piece to life through a fusion of digital painting and traditional media: oils, pastels, watercolor, and photographic layering. The final work is completed with a carefully chosen mount and frame — often antique or reimagined — that deepens the narrative the piece carries. I produce both original works and giclée prints, making each story accessible to a range of collectors.

What began as experimentation became a defining part of my process. By incorporating oils, chalks, pastels, watercolor elements, I’m able to create depth, movement, and atmosphere that reflect both classical influence and contemporary energy.

The result is work that feels both timeless and alive—where subject, setting, and story come together on the canvas.

As a Navy wife, I spent years relocating across the country — building a life that didn't fit neatly on a résumé, but accumulated something more lasting: an intimate relationship with place, impermanence, and what we choose to hold onto. Each move sharpened my eye for what makes a landscape feel like home and what makes leaving it feel like loss. When my husband and I entered retirement, I finally had the space — and the urgency — to give full voice to what those years had taught me.

I serve collectors, businesses, hotels, and civic spaces seeking work that offers a meaningful alternative to mass-produced décor — environments where story, intention, and a sense of place matter. While viewers are often first drawn by the visual subject, many form a deeper connection through the narrative each piece carries. My goal is to create art that makes a space feel inhabited rather than decorated.

My work is created for those who value not only beauty, but meaning—collectors who want their spaces to reflect a life well lived or a story worth holding onto.
